CAR OF THE YEAR HISTORY

Robb Report’s editors never could have imagined that what began as a casual gathering of a few pals and fun cars would grow into an internationally recognized automotive competition, attended annually by hundreds of car enthusiasts over the course of several weeks—but here we are. Robb Report's Car of the Year started almost 22 years ago with modest ambitions and nary a thought that it would develop into not just an eagerly anticipated date on our editorial calendar but also a storied tradition.

The Drive of a Lifetime
SILVERSTONE CIRCUIT

The end of the Second World War had left Britain with no major race track but plenty of airfields. On October 2, 1948, the Royal Automobile Club hosted the first British Grand Prix at Silverstone, a former RAF base. An estimated 100,000 people flocked to see Luigi Villoresi beat 22 others in his Maserati marked by bales, ropes and canvas barriers.

Today you can drive Car of the Year's latest luxury cars and supercars on the UK's only Formula One track. Get set for a high-speed experience you'll never forget.
